TO BE ADVISED
About our Spring Event on May 20, 2008
Dear AACYM Members and Guests,
The AACYM was created in an effort to provide all those who minister to youth with a forum and opportunity to minister to each other.
On May 20th, we were fortunate to gather again, to provide each other with that support. Unfortunately for the AACYM Members and Guests, unexpected circumstances kept our well anticipated speaker, Sr. Eileen McCann, from being able to make it to Chicago for our gathering titled Be Not Afraid. Sr. Eileen needed to respond to a different calling; jury duty, during our scheduled event.
Fortunately we were able to still learn some of the intention of the document Co-Workers in the Vineyard and how our Archdiocese of Chicago gathers and responds to those who hear the call of Lay Ecclesial Ministry from Maruja Sedano (OFCYM) and Carol Walters (Office for Lay Ecclesial Ministry). The morning session was very enlightening with information about the Foundation of the title Lay-Ecclesial Minister and the areas of Formation that need to be tended to and addressed. We appreciate the support the Archdiocese continues to give the AACYM.
Roberta Anderson a ‘Lay-Ecclesial Minister’, Pastoral Associate from St. George Parish, who ministers to youth as well, shared with those attending the evening session, poignantly, how we are all workers in the vineyard. She affirmed all present by facilitating a dialogue. We all shared about our call to youth ministry and how we have responded to that call.
Thanks to all who attended for their understanding with the changes that took place. It was great to see new faces as well as familiar faces at the gathering. We look forward to continuing to bring events that affirm and support youth ministers in and around the Archdiocese of Chicago. We are working on the date of our Fall Event and will have that posted soon. Check back for that Upcoming Date and Event Information.
With peace,
Kim McMillan - Board Chair |
